An independent investigation in North Wales has found 'significant evidence of systemic and serious sexual and physical abuse' between 1963 and 1992. The victims, boys and girls, were between 7 and 17 years old.
It is interesting that the investigation appears to stop 21 years ago, in 1992. That is about the time that former Tory MP Geoffrey Dickens came across a paedophile ring in the higher echelons of the Thatcher administration. After going public about the ring, Dickens, a robust ex-boxer, claimed to be in fear of his life after threats and burglaries. Once again children's homes were identified as the source of young people for these wicked practices.
What is obvious is that these activities did not stop in 1992, why would they? Powerful and influential people who feed off the exploitation of such young victims would not reform overnight.
Just as the crooks at the top of the banking food chain are protected by those in the next few tiers, so these people will be protected by those close to them. This behaviour is clearly endemic in our society. Every time we see an establishment figure, we must ask "are you a paedophile?".
